Team Building
I salute you members. It is a fact that members make clubs what they are and SHREC is no exception. This year has seen the club rise to higher levels like the phoenix rises from its ashes. We would like to thank you the member for being part of the club and not only coming up with the events but also taking part to make them a success. To recognize you as a member, the club will be having its team building later this year. All are welcome.

THE SECRETARY?
Blogger: Peter Kibe has been a SHREC member for quite a while now, he is running for secretary of the students' council, I caught up with him and this is what he had to say:
Blogger: So why did you decide to run for this post and what are you hoping to accomplish?
Kibe: I have always had a passion to serve the people and this opportunity gives me a chance to represent all those associated with me like the SHREC members.
Blogger: What are you offering that is so different from your opponents?
Kibe: A common touch with the people and the urge to bring the student council to the people, and to promote the student council status from the level of the University to National Status, other major changes I am planning include: changing the voting system from the college system to a system of one man one vote.
Blogger: How has SHREC as a club helped you as a person and has it had any influence on your decision to run for the job?
Kibe: Through SHREC I have been able to build networks, and I have also gotten a better experience of the University, and how some activities are run, such as the club activities.
Blogger: Any closing remarks?
Kibe: Vote for me, I am a servant leader and I will serve you to the best of my ability, that is my promise.

The Potential President:
Blogger: So what are you going to do for clubs if you win this race?
Geoff: I plan to have an inter club sponsorship, meaning,we will have different clubs sponsoring each others events to enhance unity and diversity.
Blogger: So what clubs are you in?
Geoff: SBC,I have also been indirectly involved in SHREC.
Blogger: How?
Geoff: I have helped to author some of their proposals, I was involved in the arrangement of the basic communication skills workshop and generally I am a friend to very many SHREC members.
Blogger:What motivated you to run for the Students' Council?
Geoff: I have, typically, been leading behind the scenes in various capacities as opportunities arose, it was my feeling that I could now come up and serve the student fraternity in the most influential capacity so that I could make the most impact.
As Aristotle once said, part of the problem of refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors. I think I am the best man for the job.
Blogger: Any final words?
Geoff: I think Strathmore is a great institution, with the capacity to grow even more, I hope all students would come up, use the opportunities they are given. It made me who I am today and the best way to give back to the university is to offer the best things I received back to them as a leader.

The Chief: Joseph Kongoro
Joseph Kongoro is the chairman of SHREC.
"SHREC for me has presented an opportunity to finally own something in Strathmore, to play a role in something, to finally be involved.
I was once a class rep, but as a class rep, you could never really influence opinion, you were limited in terms of the activities you could conduct.
SHREC has also given me an opportunity to appreciate people more, I am reserved by nature, but somehow SHREC has taken care of that, I feel more like a whole person, not just a bookworm (chuckle).
Academically? I am a CPA K and I am in my last semester of third year Bcom exempt finance and accounting options, I went to Starehe by the way (chuckle)
For fun I go for excursions, I sing acapella, play soccer and swim."
Overall Joseph is a warm and friendly person and perhaps the only evening student in Strathmore who chairs a club.
